Y'know those little flares that fly off when a fire crackles or when they fly off of a sparkler? I call those "pixies", they look nice and beautiful, but you touch/get hit by one, they hurt! So, if you know mythological characters, pixies (or fairies) are beautiful creatures, but they're also tricksters and can end up "hurting" you . . . hence why I call the little sparks "pixies".
